A Step-by-Step Guide to Carrying Out a Strip Down Boiler Service to a Worcester Bosch CDi Classic

Maintaining a Worcester Bosch CDi Classic boiler is key to ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently. By performing a strip down boiler service on your boiler, you can be sure the components are regularly checked, reducing the risk of costly breakdowns. Here’s a step-by-step guide to performing a strip down boiler service on a Worcester Bosch CDi Classic.

1. Gather the Tools and Protective Wear: Before you start the strip down boiler service, ensure you have the right tools and protective wear. You’ll need safety goggles, protective gloves, a spanner, a screwdriver and a toolkit.

2. Isolate the Power: Before you start your strip down boiler service, switch off the power from the main source and disconnect from the mains supply. This will prevent any electrics from triggering during the strip down process.

3. Remove the Outer Cover: Using the screwdriver, gently unscrew the screws securing the outer cover, making sure to keep them safe for re-attaching the cover once the service is complete.

4. Disconnect and Remove the Extractor Fan: In order to remove the extractor fan, the fastenings must first be undone and then disconnected from the electrical connection.

5. Inspect the Components: Once the extractor fan is removed, you’ll be able to inspect the components and parts of the boiler, such as the spark electrode, the condensate trap, the heat exchanger and the air intake chamber. Check these components and replace any that are worn or damaged.

6. Reassemble the Parts: Once all of the boiler components have been inspected and replaced, the extractor fan can be re-attached and the outer cover re-secured in place.

7. Test the Boiler: Before completing the strip down boiler service, switch the power back on and check that the boiler is working properly. Test the boiler at full capacity and check that the programming is still functioning correctly.

By following these steps, you can be sure that your Worcester Bosch CDi Classic boiler is running as it should. Regularly servicing and maintaining your boiler not only prolongs its life, but also ensures it’s running at its most efficient

How to Lower Your Energy Bills and Still Keep Warm

Keeping your home warm while still being mindful of your energy bills can be tricky. Thankfully, Aquaheat has a few simple steps that you can take to help reduce your energy bills while still staying nice and toasty. Here are some of our top tips for lowering your energy bills and keeping your home warm.

1. Insulate Your Home: Proper insulation can help to trap heat within your home, resulting in an even temperature throughout your home and lower energy bills. Consider filling any existing cavities, sealing windows, adding loft insulation, and insulating cold exterior walls to reduce energy loss from your home.

2. Use the Sun: Take advantage of the warmth from the sun by opening curtains and blinds. This allows the sunlight to stream into your home, resulting in a naturally heated space. Closing curtains and blinds when the sun sets can help to trap the heat and keep your home warm.

3. Change Your Temperature Settings: You may be tempted to turn up the thermostat to keep your home warm, but doing this can result in unnecessarily high energy bills. Lowering the temperature by just a couple of degrees can make a big difference in terms of energy efficiency.

4. Adjust Radiators: Carefully adjusting the thermostatic temperature settings on each radiator can help to control and direct heat. Setting a lower temperature on radiators in bedrooms or other areas of the home that are not in use can help to save energy while still keeping the main living areas comfortable.

5. Cover Floorboards: Cold floorboards can create a chill in the home and be a major factor in energy loss. Place rugs and mats over floorboards to help keep warmth within the room and reduce energy bills.

6.Keep Boiler Serviced: Making sure that your boiler is serviced regularly is essential for making sure that it is running efficiently. Regular servicing can identify any problems early on and help to ensure that your boiler is running at its fullest efficiency.

By following these steps, you can keep your home warm while still saving energy. All of these are simple to implement, and can make a significant difference in the amount of energy used to heat your home.

If you would like further information on how updating your current boiler will improve your overall heating performance and lower harmful gas emissions please give us a call or simply drop us a line to: info@aquaheat.org.uk

Boiler servicing

Boiler servicing is a routine maintenance procedure that involves checking, cleaning, and testing various components of a boiler to ensure that it operates safely and efficiently. A professional boiler service typically includes inspecting the boiler for leaks or damage, cleaning and adjusting the burner, checking for proper combustion, testing the safety controls, and verifying the boiler’s overall performance. Regular boiler servicing is essential for maintaining the longevity of your boiler, reducing the risk of breakdowns, and ensuring that it runs efficiently, saving you money on your energy bills. It is recommended to have your boiler serviced at least once a year to keep it in good working order.

Why is it important to have your boiler serviced every 12 months?

1. Safety: A regular boiler service can help identify any potential safety hazards and prevent carbon monoxide leaks, which can be fatal.

2. Efficiency: Regular maintenance can help ensure that your boiler is running efficiently, which can save you money on energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint.

3. Reliability: A well-maintained boiler is less likely to break down, which can save you the hassle and expense of emergency repairs.

4. Warranty: Many boiler manufacturers require proof of regular servicing to maintain the warranty on your boiler.

5. Compliance: If you are a landlord, it is a legal requirement to have annual gas safety checks carried out on any gas appliances in your rental properties.

Will I save money on excessive gas use by having my boiler serviced regularly?

Yes, having your boiler serviced regularly can help you save money on excessive gas use. A well-maintained boiler operates more efficiently, which means it uses less gas to heat your home. Additionally, regular servicing can identify any potential issues before they become major problems, which can save you money on costly repairs or replacements down the line. Overall, investing in regular boiler servicing can help you save money and improve the energy efficiency of your home.

Hi guys,

Welcome back to another exciting week of boiler installations, boiler service and boiler repairs, and this time it was in the streatham SW2 and SW16 London areas.

On Thursday of this week, we installed a new Worcester Bosch 36CDI Compact condensing combination boiler in Streatham SW2.

Firstly, as with all installations, we arrived at the property at around 7.15am. We like to get an early start as this ensures that we will finish the job within the day.

To start with, all the tools are unloaded from the van. Then we go into the property and put dust sheets down in the common walk areas and where we will be carry out the main part of the installation of the new Worcester Bosch 36CDI Compact condensing boiler.

Once we have got all the tools and sheets down we can then begin the days work of removing and installing a new condensing boiler in Streatham SW2.

What we do next is to isolate the mains and drain down the heating system. On this job there was an easy to access drain-off point, however on some of new boiler installations in Streatham SW2 area this is not the case and we have to look at other means of drain down the heating system safely.

Over the years we have learnt lots of handy tips to carry out this task so we can safely empty the heating system of water. As the heating system is being drain down, we can then begin to look at stripping down the boiler before removing it. We have to firstly make sure the the electrical and gas supplies are safely switched off. Then we can start removing the outer casing of the old boiler, and also removing the flue system.

When the whole boiler as been safely stripped down and the flue removed we can then look to remove the old boiler.

We do carrying out a lot of new boiler installer works in Streatham SW2 area. We also carry out boiler repairs and serving within the Streatham SW2 area too. This helps us better understand the types of properties and systems within the Streatham SW2 and SW16 areas.

After the old boiler as been removed we can then look at how to begin installing the new Worcester Bosch 28CDI Compact Condensing boiler. At this particular installation, the new boiler was going in the same location as the old boiler, however we can install (subject to regulations) a new Worcester Bosch 28CDI Compact Condensing boiler in a new location. The new Worcester Bosch 28CDI Compact Is a lot smaller than the standard classic cdi condensing boiler and can fit into a kitchen cupboard. We would be happy to price and discuss this with you on your new new installation if you want to drop us an email. Info@aquaheat.org.uk

The new boiler comes in two parts. Firstly you have the frame which sits on the wall. This is sometimes called the ‘jig’. It is a wall plate that the boiler will eventually sit on and also has all the pipe connection tails so the boiler can be pre-plumbed.

We now start to safely and neatly begin piping up the new Worcester Bosch 28CDI Compact condensing boiler from the old pipe work.

Once we have finished piping up the frame we can add the internal filling link to the frame. When this is done we are now ready to hang the boiler Worcester Bosch 28CDI Compact condensing combination boiler.

With the new boiler now fitted and connected we can now fit a new flue system.

After this we will fill and flush the whole heating and hot water system. After we flush the system we fill it with a chemical heating inhibitor. This helps keep the system clean and protect the boiler.

Now after all the works have been carried out and we’ve tested the gas and checked for leaks we can commission the new boiler. This is to make sure its all working safely as the manufacture requires.

Installation of a new Worcester Bosch 38CDI condensing boiler in Balham SW12

We are local plumbers in Balham SW12, and have been doing plumbing in Balham SW12 since 2004.
Just this Friday in Balham we completed an installation of a new Worcester Bosch 38cdi.

The new boiler was fitted on Sistova Road SW12, just around the corner from Pizza Express!

The original boiler was one of the first Baxi condensing boilers ever made and it was showing signs of extreme neglect such as rusting, making a banging noise when running and water leaks. The system seemed to have gained a lot of sludge due to these issues. The only way forward was to replace the boiler, as it would be too costly to repair.

So we took all the details and emailed the customer a quote, which was excepted, so we then booked in to do the works.
We arrived at the property at 7.15am, which is a normal start time for boiler installations. Our boiler installations usually take up to a day to complete. Firstly we have to drain down the whole heating system. Once this is done we have to shut off gas and water supplies. We then open all the vents and drain down, the boiler is carefully taken apart and removed. On this boiler replacement in Balham the customer wanted the new boiler installed to fit on the original boxing, but as the old boiler was a lot bigger than the new boiler we had to use a core drill to drill a new hole.

The local Balham plumber boiler supplier then arrived with the new Worcester Bosch 30cdi boiler, flue and chemical clean

We usually also fit the Worcester Bosch dt20rf stat with a new boiler, but this customer wanted to use his original stat as it was not very old. We unpacked the new boiler and parts, then we removed the fixing frame from the boiler box and fitted it to the wall. Once this is done, we made a start on fitting the pipe work to the frame. When we pipe up the frame, we have to cross over heating and hot water supplies to suit new locations. When this has been completed, we then look to install the main Worcester Bosch 38cdi boiler on the new frame which is screwed and fixed to the wall. In order to install one of these boilers, we require two people, especially to fit the main gas boiler, as they can be very heavy and this helps to avoid injuries to your back. We do not take any unnecessary safety risks when carrying out a new boiler installation.

Once the new boiler is installed on the frame we can then begin to connect all the pipe work. We then turn everything on and test the cold and hot supplies, checking for any leaks.
After this we turn on and test the heating system; firstly we fill and pressurize the heating system to check if we have any leaks, once this is done we can fill the system and flush through with mains water pressure. Finally we part drain and add inhibitor to the system as this stops any further sludge building up and damaging the new boiler.
We then test the gas for leaks. After the test as been passed, we fire up and commission the new boiler.
The customer was very happy to have his heating and hot water back on as the system broke down on boxing day so they had been left without a working boiler for a few days.
Once we have finished a boiler installation, we register the new boiler with Gas Safe and also register the boiler with Worcester Bosch. We are accredited Worcester Bosch installers and currently offer a seven year warranty on the boiler.

We install many new boilers in Balham, SW12 and have been plumbers in South West London since 2004.

If you are local to either Balham, South West London or West London, we can provide you with expert plumbing at heating services such as boiler repairs, boiler replacements and boiler servicing (and much more), using experienced Gas Safe Registered heating engineers. So why not contact us today? We’d love to hear from you!
